The Great Plague: A London Girl’s Diary 1665-1666

This is the diary of a thirteen-year-old girl named Alice who is growing up in London in the 17th Century. She has a Father, an Aunt, and a dog that are all very nice. Her mother died after she was born so she has no mother. But Alice’s Aunt, Aunt Nell, is very kind and takes the place of her mother.
But as the year the story takes place in, 1665, moves on, Alice realizes that something terrible is about to happen – the plague.
While Alice is outside one day a drunken man kisses a young woman for no reason and says to the woman, “Now you too will die of the plague!” and runs away. A frantic Alice runs to get Aunt Nell to come and help the poor woman.
But Aunt Nell gets the plague do, and Alice’s life changes from a normal London girl to an unfortunate girl who is all alone, with only her mischievous companion, Poppet, her dog.
This book is amazing in so many ways. It is very good, and a must read!

Elisabeth: The Princess bride

Okay, not great…
I got this book for my tenth birthday, and I wasn’t pleased. I mean, this book could have been better in so many ways. For one, I know that the author, Barry Deneberg, is pretty good in most of the Dear America books he’s written. (For example, “Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall” was really good. So was “So Far from Home”.) But this book was not really good. Some parts were boring. Some times there was a lot of description, others there were not.
Overall, this book is not bad. Like I thought the main storyline was interesting, like how Sisi’s cousin married her. I also liked how quick the story was. But it seemed a little too quick.
I liked many things – for one, I love how determined Sisi is. She seems to have a lot of hope. But it was so short I barely really got to know her.
Good, but could have been better. 3 stars.
I’d buy this book, but would not expect the best book ever.
[Sisi is ELisabeth's nickname in the book]

Elizabeth I: Red Rose of the House of Tudor

Now this is a good book!
This was a story about Elizabeth – not the second, the first – and it is a really neat story about what a princess’s life would be in the mid 1500’s. Her problems would seem foreign if we ever faced them. One of them was the fact that her father paid very little attention to her. Another was her half sister, Mary (today known as “Bloody Mary”) who would always claim Elizabeth’s mother was a witch.
I really did find some parts a little dull. Not many, but occasionally there would be something that you didn’t really care about. But to be fair to the author, I am sure sometimes life would be boring.
I watched the movie of it and it was really cool! But the book is WAY better.
Another thing I liked was how strong Elizabeth was. She promised she would never marry and she never did. You could tell if she made up her mind she would stick with it, and proved that any girl can be just as good as any boy.

My quest
Hi,
In case you don't know what my quest is, I'll tell you. My quest is to show you all the great books I'm reading, and I can share them here with you! Here is my first Review. It's about the book, "Cleopatra: Daughter of the Nile".

CLEOPATRA VII: DAUGHTER OF THE NILE
An amazing book
I bought this a few years back, and I just put it back my book shelf, not even thinking about reading it. It was too slow moving for me, I didn’t care humanly. It sat there for quite a while (around two years. It was the first Royal Diary I had ever bought, and I was eight at the time and I’m ten now) until about a month ago when I decided I’d read it, expecting an okay book that I’d like, but would not be very good…
Right at the start, Kristina Gregory had this book exciting. Tell me if you find this first sentence just thrilling:
“I, Cleopatra, Princess of the Nile, write this in my own hand…”
See?! It makes you already want to read more!
It is about a young princess (you and me know her as Queen Cleopatra of Egypt) who’s father is nearly poisoned by a snake who someone purposely put in his room. This deadly animal does not steal Cleopatra’s father’s life, but steals his loyal servant. He flees Egypt, and hides somewhere (we later find out is Rome).
Cleopatra worries much about her father. Is he alright? Where is he? Is he threatened? She joins her father after she finds out where he is (Rome) and along with her servant Neva, joins the adventure to Rome.
I cannot say anything more put that her malevolence sister claims herself queen of Egypt!
Read this book, because it might change your life.
THAT IS MY FIRST BOOK REVIEW ON MY BLOG, AND IT WON"T BE MY LAST!
